Spudnut's Famous Potato Donuts

by donutstud on April 9, 2009

My first post on this donut blog is about a donut shop called Spudnuts. No, it’s not a Polish dish.  I have always driven by this place and wondered what that place sold.  I went to my food confidant:  Yelp.com, and found out this donut shop stood out from all your other typical donut shops by using potato flour instead of plain flour: Spudnut’s Donuts.

I went inside and was greeted by a nice Asian lady.  The first thing I noticed was the donuts they have there are HUGE. Check out the size of the Apple Fritters and Maple Twists. They’re massive!

I ordered my usual favorite, apple fritter, and my lady friend ordered a old-fashioned maple donut.  The apple fritter had a nice sweet crusty outterlayer but what made the donut so good was the light fluffy “doughyness” of the inside.  The potato flour gave it a nice airy texture that didn’t make the donut just sit in your stomach.  I’ll be back again to try all their other flavors.  I give it 4.5 donuts out of 5.

Nice post Donut Stud. I like your pictures. Did you get a chance to take a bite of the old fashioned maple donut? It sounds yummy!

I look forward to more posts!
